    Dee Shuttlesworth, DVM (Practice Owner)

    Dee Shuttlesworth received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Texas Tech University and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Texas A&M University.  She established Campbell-Nantucket Animal Hospital (now the Animal Medical Center of Richardson) in 1990 and has been serving the Richardson and North Dallas communities since.  Dr. Shuttlesworth's special interests include disorders of the skin and ears, feline medicine and surgery, diseases of the endocrine system (diabetes, hypothroidism in dogs, hyperthyroidism in cats, Cushing's disease and Addison's disease).   She currently works with several local pet rescue organizations and shelters to help improve the quality of life of discarded pets, and to help them find permanent, loving homes.

    Laura Wiles, DVM (Associate Veterinarian)

    Laura Wiles is the daughter of an Air Force pilot. She lived in Europe for the majority of her formative years and moved to Texas in 1989 when she entered Texas A&M University as a college freshman.  She is the oldest of three children, and both her younger brothers are now in the military.  Dr. Wiles received her Bachelor of Science degree at Texas A&M University in 1994.  She moved to Dallas and started a career as an elementary school teacher.  Realizing that veterinary medicine was her calling, she returned to Texas A&M in 1999 to start veterinary school.  She graduated in 2003 and returned to Dallas to start a second career as a veterinarian.  She worked in several hospitals before making her home at the Animal Medical Center in 2011.  Her special interests include feline medicine, animal nutrition, emergency medicine and shelter medicine.  Her spare time is occupied taking care of her feline troops and her silly Chihuahua named Lupe!

  • Cathy Barron

    Cathy Barron

    Our head technician, Cathy, is a 'Texas transplant'...she was born in New London, Connecticut and moved to Texas when she was one year old.  She has a long history in the animal field- she used to often compete in equestrian events and has been a veterinary nurse for 16 years.  Cathy is married and has three beautiful children who are all animal lovers.  Collectively the Barron family has 3 dogs, 3 cats, and 2 fish!  Cathy loves to cook, read, play games, and is very active in her son's Boy Scout Troop.  Professionally, her goals include achieving the RVT title, and working in animal orthopedics and rehabilitation.

    Michelle Wells

    Michelle is a very valued nurse at our hospital.  Her kind words and gentle hands never fail to soothe an anxious patient!  Michelle grew up in the Dallas area and has always desired a career helping animals in need.  She aspires to work on a wildlife preserve one day.  (Michelle will often be found nursing an orphaned squirrel or tending to an injured bird!)  She is working on her undergraduate degree through the University of Texas, Dallas.  In her spare time, she plays with her three crazy canines Kyle, Luke and sweet girl Sam!

    Sarah Wurtz

    Sarah has been a veterinary tech at the AMCR since December of 2007.  She is currently working on her Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry at the University of Texas, Dallas.  Sarah enjoys reading and playing computer games.  She lives in Richardson with 4 roommates and two silly Siamese cats, Yo-Yo and Bo-Bo.

    Claudia Smith

    Claudia was born in Germany and moved to the United States in 1992.  She started working with Dr. Shuttlesworth in August of 2001. Claudia is a jack-of-all-trades at the AMCR!  She efficiently manages the boarding facility, works as a receptionist and pinch hits as a Technician Assistant when needed!  She has been married to her husband, Paul, for 28 years and is the proud mother of two grown sons, Danny (27) and Kevin (26).

    Tavin Roberts

    Tavin was born to two amazing parents in Plano, Texas.  He is an only child and has been a veterinary nurse for three years.  He graduated from Plano East Senior High School and has taken classes at Collin County Community College.  He aspires to attend the Art Institute in Dallas to study culinary arts.  In his spare time, he cares for his beautiful, brindle Boxer named Roxy!

  • Yolanda Sandoval

    Yolanda Sandoval

    Yolanda was born and raised in Dallas, the oldest of 4 girls.  She has 3 amazing kids, Izrael (16), Robert (13), and Daria (10).  Her family has many diverse and wonderful pets: Murphy, a deaf Red Heeler; Gorda, a Labrador Retriever mix; 2 fish named Doshi and Dot; and a kitty named Sadie.  Yolanda is also a step-mom to Zeus, an albino Burmese Python (YIKES!).  Yolanda has been attending Mountain View College, pursuing an Associate’s Degree in Science.  She would someday like to travel the world and maybe write a book.  In her spare time she enjoys attending live shows and food festivals, reading and photography.  She has been involved with Veterinary Medicine since 2008 and is fluent in Spanish.

    Alledria Washington

    Alledria was born and raised in Dallas.  She has been working in the animal healthcare field for the past 5 or 6 years.  She attended El Centro college where she obtained her Associates Degree in Science.  She and her husband, JD, are the proud parents of a daughter named Zalia (2 years) and a son named Jaxston (3 months old). They also have a house full of furry children...Tuff, the Rottweiler, and Sylvester and Sleepy, the kitties!
